The Williamses re-sign for Whites’ back line

·         Player coach Rhys Williams, and full back Rhys ‘Willow’ Williams continue their All Whites journey

·         Hugh Gustafson, “Both are experienced players who bring a lot of experience and rugby ability to our back line.”

Swansea RFC are pleased to announce the re-signing of both Williams’ – player coach Rhys Williams, and full back Rhys “Willow” Williams.

Player coach Rhys Williams has been an integral asset to the squad since joining us two seasons ago, and the combination of both his coaching support and ability to perform as part of the match day XV has allowed for him to become a well-respected member of the team. Rhys played in twenty league games last season, scoring eight tries and ten conversions. Despite being injured towards the end of the season, Rhys will be playing on the 7s circuit over the summer in preparation for the new season, and we look forward to seeing him back on the pitch at St Helens.

Willow re-signs with the club to go into his 6th season as an All White. Comfortable playing at full back and centre, Willow has certainly shown his strength and stamina this season, whilst also crossing the white line for five tries. Willow will continue to add to his already 79 appearances in the jersey and adds some much valued experience to the Whites’ young back line, whilst his confident left food offers a different attacking weapon for us on the field.

Head coach Hugh Gustafson said, “To get the two Rhys Williams’ signed for the club is brilliant news. Both are experienced players who bring a lot of experience and rugby ability to our back line. Player coach Rhys Williams has been the enforcer of our attack for the last two seasons and we’re looking forward to seeing the impact he brings this season. Willow’s ability to play two positions shows the quality of the rugby player that he is, and his robustness showed last season playing 23 league games for us”
