Swansea RFC to welcome Ospreys ‘home’

Swansea RFC delighted to welcome Ospreys ‘home’

Swansea RFC welcome the news that the Ospreys have selected St Helen’s as the preferred option for their new stadium, with a return ‘home’ set for the 2025/26 season.

The multi-million pound investment into St Helen’s will not only benefit the Ospreys but will see Swansea RFC remain at our historic home ground.

Installation of a new 4G pitch, new stands, a refurbishment of the club house and the introduction of a new fan zone area will provide excellent facilities for Swansea RFC and supporters. We are also delighted that Swansea University will also continue to play at St Helen’s and we look forward to working closer than ever on the match day experience and creating a venue for first class rugby at all levels of the game.

St Helen’s and the Ospreys are intrinsically linked, with the region playing regularly at the ground during it’s formative years. The first Ospreys game at St Helen’s saw Munster beaten 33-26 in September 2003, with former All Whites Gavin Henson and Andy Williams shining.

Following the move to the Liberty Stadium in 2005, there was an 11 year wait for the region to return to St Helen’s, when they welcome Harlequins in 2016. Further games have since been played within sight of Swansea Bay, with the Ospreys also basing themselves at St Helen’s during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Keith Colclough, Swansea RFC Managing Director said “This is great news not only for Swansea RFC but also the local community. We are incredibly excited to get to work on this project and help make St Helen’s an integral hub for the community. We’d like to praise Bridgend Ravens for their strong competition in this difficult decision for the Ospreys and their ongoing work alongside Swansea RFC in the player development pathway for the Ospreys.

Supporters will be updated on any developments as and when we are able, we look forward to welcoming you to the upgraded clubhouse as it develops.

In the meantime Swansea RFC are excited to start the new Super Rygbi Cymru season in September. Memberships for the season remain on sale at the earlybird price until 31st August. Please visit www.swansearfc.co.uk/seasontickets for more information.
