Tabbsy crosses the line

On Tuesday morning our Whites and Ospreys ‘man on the mic’ arrived at St Helen’s on his last day of the 26 day fund-raising walk he started on May 1st.

Finishing his last day with a turn around Liberty Stadium in full Ospreys kit, he arrived fresh as a daisy and pushing a faster pace than day one back on May 1st.

‘Tabbs’ as he’s universally known, has caught the public imagination during his 26 day walking challenge, spoken on Swansea Sound about the cause and raised a lot of money for SWANSEA MIND. When we finally managed to get him to stand still on the best natural pitch in Wales, we asked him for his thoughts on finishing and his reaction to the amount raised:

“As I have now completed the walk I said I would do, my first thoughts are of relief as I was determined not to let everyone down and so, I’m also very pleased and proud of the achievement.”

“I’m even more pleased and humbled by the tremendous response and encouragement I’ve had since May 1st. It really has affected me and encouraged me. So many kind words and so many selfless donations to SWANSEA MIND. As they are also the Chosen Charity of Swansea RFC this season, it was another way to help out despite the circumstances we all find ourselves in.”

“I have been amazed at how this has taken off and want to thank each one of you who helped me and helped to get the total as of now, to an amazing £2,200 when Facebook and other pending contributions are added in. You have to remember that I started out with a target of £500. So I am overwhelmed at how far past that mark everyone has pushed it.”

“ I know that money is still coming in and as long as that is the case I am happy to continue to publicise the crowd funding link which is: https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/PaulTabram If anyone has not heard the Swansea Sound interview and would like to do so and find out more about the background to the challenge, that link is here: https://t.co/kHUYSceBsT?amp=1

Please continue to support SWANSEA MIND and let’s see just how far we can push the total in recognition of ‘Tabbsy’s’ efforts.

Keep looking at the website and social media for more Swansea RFC news as we all continue preparations for the relaxation of lockdown in Wales. Shame we couldn’t go one better than England and have a maximum of 15 people gathering!!!
