Thomas Deacon was born in 1868 and was carpenter by trade, he was employed by Swansea Corporation as a building inspector. He played as a forward for Wales on 4 occasions between 1891 and 1892. He played against Ireland in 1891 and 1892 and against both England and Scotland in 1892. He made his Swansea debut on 3rd March 1888 with the 1st XV against Lampeter College and played in the famous win over Blackheath in 1891 for the unofficial Anglo-Welsh championship. Between march 1888 and April 1892 Tom played 57 matches for the Swansea 1st XV and 4 known matches for the seconds.
He was secretary of the United Baptists National Benefit Society and on 21st July 1921 died in Morriston as a result of injuries received in a motor car accident.
