Doug Baker Passes On

Swansea RFC was saddened to hear of the recent passing of former ‘All White’ Doug Baker. A stalwart of the Mumbles RFC Doug also played for Swansea RFC on their north of England tour of April 1961, turning out against New Brighton and Otley. The following season Doug scored a try in the 40-0 win over the Welsh District XV at St Helen’s. A prop forward, Doug played as alongside Gwyn Lewis, Norman Gale and Dave Rowlands in Swansea’s front row. He was known to many at St Helen’s through his long affiliation with Mumbles RFC. All at St Helen’s are sad to hear of his passing and our thoughts are with his family and loved ones.
