A watch and ring presented to Dickie Owen on his retirement from playing in 1912. The Watch was presented by swansea RFC and is enscribed on the inner reverse: “PRESENTED TO R M OWEN BY THE SC & FC. PLAYED FOR SWANSEA 14 YEARS AND GLAMORGAN 30 TIMES. INTERNATIONAL 35 TIMES. One of the greatest inside-halves in the Annals of the game” Kindly made available to photograph by Phillip Owen, Dickie Owen’s grandson.

Ring worn by Dickie Owen commemorating his achievements on the rugby field. The inside is skillfully engraved with the message: “IN COMMEMORATION OF HAVING BEATEN ALL INTERNATIONAL RECORDS BY PLAYING MY 34TH MATCH ON JANUARY 20TH 1912. DICKIE OWEN.” The date alludes to the match against England which he possibly thought would be his last. He did of course play in the following fixture against Scotland on 3rd February at his home ground of St Helens and was carried off shoulder high by the crowd after captaining Wales to a 21 – 6 win.
