On 26th November 1960 Swansea played the 5th South African tourists at St Helens.
The swansea team that day were: M Rogers, M Evans, M Young, D Bebb, B Richards, J Hopkins, J Leleu (captain), J Faull, W Jenkins, G Morris, J Clifford, G Lewis, N Gale and W. O. Williams.
Swansea 3 points South Africa 11 points.
Unfortunately, we lost Malcolm Rogers at the end of the first half of this game (dislocated shoulder) and had to play with fourteen men for the whole of thesecond half. Haydn Mainwaring moved to full-back, and the ex-marine tackled everyone in a green and gold shirt – on sight.
With John Faull having to come out of the pack, the remaining seven worked like trojans. Captain, John Leleu and Warren Jenkins seemed to be everywhere, while the front five played like heroes. Dewi Bebb crossed for our only score, whilst Van Zyle, Hill Roux and Antelme were the South African try scorers. Lockyer did their kicking.
