The 1967-68 season saw Welsh international scrum-half and tactical maestro Clive Rowlands end his three year stint and his rugby career at Swansea for whom he captained the 1st XV this season. A news article in the Western Mail of 22 April 1968 captured the sense of celebration and goodwill on his last home appearance at St Helens, an 11 – 5 win against Aberavon.
