On 3rd ovember 1973 Swansea, in their Centenary Season hosted the touring Australians at St Helens. Having won and lost twice against touring Wallaby sides, the ‘score’ remained level as this game was drawn 9 – 9. But it took a penalty in injury time to decide the result of this game. With four extra minutes played the tourists were awarded a penalty more than fifty yards from “The Whites” posts. Jeff McClean, who had scored twice before in the match, was again successful and the match was drawn. for Swansea Roger Blyth kicked a thirty yard penalty, Mike Yandle scored the only try of the game while the whole Whites team played themdselves to a standstill.
