An estimated crowd of nearly 40,000 witnessed this memorable boxing day victory over Australia by 6 points to nil, Swansea’s 1st victory over a major touring team.

Swansea’s points came from an Edgar Morgan try and a Jack Bancroft penalty.

The game produced gate receipts of £2,100, which at the time represented a Welsh record.

The Swansea team on that memorable occasion was :
J Bancroft, WJ Trew (captain), P Hopkins, H Toft, H Thomas,
R Jones, RM Owen, DJ Thomas, H Hunt, I Morgan,
E Morgan, G Hayward, I Williams, D Griffiths, D Davies.

The ‘invincible’ (1904/05 season) skipper Frank ‘Genny’ Gordon was the Swansea touch-judge that day.
