·         Llangennech RFC Players Player of the Year, Josh Hammett, makes the   move to his local Premiership side

·         Three Welsh Varsity’s and a season with Llandovery RFC also under his wing

·         Richard Lancaster, “Josh has all of the qualities a great ten needs. He has time on the ball, is unflappable and composed, and a really intelligent lad”

Following the announcement of our pre-season fixtures, the club are pleased to continue signings news with the arrival of outside half Josh Hammett to St Helen’s.

The 25 year old who worked his way through the ranks at Waunarlwydd RFC from under 11 to the senior team, joins us as an All White following a season with Llandovery RFC. Josh was also on a dual contract with Llangennech Rugby Club which saw him awarded Players Player of the Year at the end of last season.

A Swansea University accounting and finance graduate, Josh had the opportunity to play in 3 varsity matches under the coaching of Richard Lancaster and makes the move to Swansea RFC to build on his Premiership experience - “Growing up as a local Swansea boy I was always aware of the history and heritage at Swansea RFC as a club, so to now have the opportunity to wear the famous Whites jersey is a real privilege. I’m looking forward to hopefully cementing my place within the squad and taking the opportunity to bring an attacking style of play to the team.”

Director of Rugby, Richard Lancaster added, “Josh has all of the qualities a great ten needs. He has time on the ball, is unflappable and composed, and a really intelligent lad. He has all the qualities to be a leader and I have seen give teams direction when he was playing for the University. He’s another local lad, developed in Waunarlwydd RFC, who’s excited about playing for his local Premiership side.”

With player signings coming thick and fast, we’re now pleased to confirm that season ticket applications will be available by the end of this week on the website and with Debra in the office. The only ticket you’ll need this season, which also includes entry to the SWRFC matches; one ticket, two teams and plenty of rugby action!
