  •     Commitment of core players bolsters squad for new season
  •     Developing young players ready to commit for another season
  •     New signings and club news to be announced from June onwards

In the second news bulletin prior to a big season, The Whites can announce that we are pleased to be able to call on the services of established players and to retain some developing young players who have impressed during the last campaign.

With the pre-season almost upon us, pieces are already fitting into place, and New signings are to be announced very shortly to help inform supporters of the huge amount of work already going on to prepare for 2018-19.

Looking ahead to the new season, we are pleased to confirm the re-signing of many of the core members of the squad. Number 8 and Whites captain, Jon Fox, enters his 5th season in the jersey having led his team through a challenging season with total commitment and passion for the jersey as will have been witnesses by those who heard him talk at the Annual Dinner and Awards night in May.

Players Player of the Year, Jonathan Vaughan, has committed to the club for another season to head into his own 5th season, and will be joined by front row, Tom Sloane, who will edge his way further towards a 100th appearance for the Whites when the season begins.

Patron’s Supporters Player of the Year, Rhys Williams, with his signature swan dive try scoring technique, will continue his role as player/coach within the squad next season, and team stalwart Sam Kiley, who had a successful return from injury this season to make a further 17 appearances in the Whites, will continue into his 12th season and surpass 210 appearances in 2018-19.

Back row Ben Davies made a considerable mark on the field this season, receiving the Young Player of the Year award at the Patrons Supporters’ Awards evening, and will again be joining The Whites in 2018/19.  Ben will also be joined by fly half James Davies and winger/full back Luke Griffiths, all of which are promising players that have gained valuable Premiership experience over the past few seasons.

Club Chairman, Stephen Hughes, said; “The 2018/19 season is one of the most important seasons for Swansea RFC with four or even five teams under threat of relegation at the end of the season. The Premiership is where Swansea RFC belongs, and we are doing everything possible to ensure that we are fully prepared for the challenge that’s ahead of us this season.

I am pleased to be able to confirm that we have made some key signings and I am hoping these will reassure our supporters that we are fully committed to keeping Swansea RFC at the semi-professional level of rugby in Wales.”

Player signings, club news and season ticket announcements will all appear on the website and our social media pages as soon as they are available, so be sure to keep checking back for all the latest build up to the new season!

This will prove to be a tremendous season to be involved in and the club calls on its supporters to get behind the team and help us all across the try line together.
