  • Richard Lancaster; "He has re-joined us this season in terrific shape and has really bought into preseason"

Swansea RFC are excited to announce the return of number 8, Steff Jones.

Known for his powerful style of play, the number 8 heads back to St Helens for his eighth season, following a break from the game last year due to work commitments at “The Tap” at Pyle. Jones received his 100th cap award last season with fellow players, and returns to add to his 106 Whites appearances whilst working on the development of his new pub.

On the decision to come back to St Helen’s, Steff commented; “I’ve made a return to rugby now that my work commitments have eased for the year and I have more time to focus on rugby and my family. I’ve bought a new pub called the “Old House” in Llangynwyd and am very much looking forward to renovating and redeveloping it over the course of this season. Preseason at Swansea has been good, I’ve really enjoyed the sessions and feel that there’s a great new young coaching set up in place who are bringing new ideas and systems to the club”

Director of Rugby, Richard Lancaster is pleased to have welcomed Steff back and said; "Steff is a big big player, not just physically but also what he brings to whichever team he is playing for. He has re-joined us this year in terrific shape and has really bought into pre season.

He was superb for us two years ago and with the extra work he's doing we believe he will have a huge contribution to make. He's setting standards in training and punishing any team mates who give anything less than 100%. He's hungry for the season too which is really exciting”

Pre-season fixtures continue this Friday when we welcome Mike Ruddock and Lansdowne Rugby back to Swansea. Kick off is 7pm at Sketty Lane, and post match presentations will take place at St Helen’s from 9pm. The match is free entry for all and there will be free curry and rice for supporters at the clubhouse post match.

The following week, we welcome all supporters to St Helen’s for our annual pre-season BBQ on Thursday 24th August from 6pm. Free entry and BBQ food for all, Q&A with team coaches and captain, former SRFC Ospreys players, and a raffle with the opportunity to win two Wales vs New Zealand tickets!
