Whites grow squad

Swansea RFC are delighted to announced that 23 year old Jack Perkins has signed for the club and will play his first game as an All White today.

Having started his playing career at his local club Abercynon RFC the former law student, who now works in financial services, continued up the player pathway of district club age grades before being selected for the Cardiff Blues Under 16's and 18's teams. Back to back Varsity wins under Swansea RFC's Director of Rugby Richard Lancaster then came while at Swansea University before Perkins joined Cross Keys RFC.

Having played with the team in the Principality Premiership for the last two and a half season Perkins now joins the Whites, a move he is excited by:

"Swansea RFC has an incredible history and is a great club. Having played for Lanky (Richard Lancaster) at Swansea University I know he is a brilliant coach and when the chance came to play here under him, it was an opportunity I just couldn't turn down.

"There is also a fantastic development history here which really impressed me, as did the links and the way it works with the Ospreys. You have someone like Josh Flye who has come here and already gone on to play for the Ospreys A team. Playing for Swansea RFC gives opportunities like that and if you impress you never know. I would love to progress with my rugby but really I'm just happy to be a playing for Swansea RFC and being an All White.

"I've really enjoyed my time here so far and settling into training. I already knew a lot of the boys on the team from University  but everyone else has been so welcoming. They are a great bunch of boys here and that really helps when you come to a new team.

"While I have played for University at St Helens, I have never played club rugby there and so it'll be great to have that first experience of being on the famous old pitch. I'm really looking forward to my first game for the Whites, I can't wait to get stuck in and hopefully we will get a win too."
