Here we are again, on the brink of the 140th season that Swansea Rugby Football Club, your club, has been playing this great game that we all love.

The Board of Directors, Coaching and Management Staff of the club and the many unpaid helpers who keep Swansea Rugby Club going for 52 weeks of the year are more than aware that supporters as well as they must be bitterly disappointed with the results of last season and the sub standard rugby that was sometimes played. For those facts I personally apologize on behalf of the club.

With a new season just around the corner and with a raft of changes to the Premier league structure taking place at the end of the 2013/2014 season that may result in the bottom club being relegated to the WRU Championship League for a 3 year period without hope of returning to the Premiership, your Board are aware that the poor results of last season must be improved upon.

However I assure you all that there are positives on the horizon for the new season ahead. Mefin already has his coaching team in place, and they are all aware that they must strengthen the core squad with more experienced players in order to bring on the young talent we already have. That job has already started. We begin the new season with 6 new players having already signed and the squad are fully committed to providing you, our loyal supporters, with a competitive team and a winning culture, playing exciting rugby with an ethos of returning this great club to the top of the Semi Professional structure of Welsh Rugby where Swansea RFC undoubtedly deserves and demands to be.

The team spirit shown by the young players in the adversity of last season’s results has to be experienced to be believed and all are already working hard as they aspire to become professional rugby players of the future by coming through the Swansea/Osprey Pathway with the ultimate goal of playing for their country.

This has already been exemplified by the selection of Dan Baker to tour Japan with the Welsh National Team where hopefully he will become the 150th player to have after his name in an International match day programme, ‘Swansea RFC’.

Dan Baker is a fine example to our young players, not only did he play over 25 games for the Whites last season, he also played for the Ospreys and now has a chance of representing his country on tour and it was pleasing to see the likes of Dan, Sam Lewis, Luke Price and Rory Thornton all being recognized at the recent Annual Ospreys Awards Night.

Your Board believes that the combination of coaching excellence, proven experience, player knowledge and young blood will make our forthcoming 140th Season a year to remember, and we would invite you all to be part of that experience by renewing your memberships for the 2013/14 season.

You will see by the attached schedule of membership fees that we have not increased our prices for the past 2 seasons. Indeed we have reduced the main membership by £10.

We have also continued with last season’s ‘NEW MEMBERS’ offer – If you as a current member, introduce a new member in the same or higher category as yourself, then you will get 50% off your own membership*. Alternatively, if you get 2 new members to join, you will get your own membership absolutely FREE! Remember Early Bird Membership ends on 31st July 2013.

We have enclosed the membership categories that are on offer for this season and request that you consider continuing your support of Swansea R.F.C. by completing and returning the enclosed application form.

Can I further ask all supporters to consider joining the 100 Club? This is a great way of additionally supporting your club and a fantastic chance to win three cash prizes per month for a cost of only £5 per month via Standing Order. Please contact Gerry Lindenburn or any member of the ‘Supporters Committee’ for further details.

This season we are also giving every season ticket holder the opportunity to purchase International Tickets for both the Autumn Series of International matches and RBS 6 Nations.  However because the WRU require full payment before tickets are allocated, all applications need to be completed and returned to Swansea RFC with your remittance before 1st September 2013. Please see enclosed application form. (Multiple applications may be considered depending on demand)

Finally, on behalf of the Board, Coaches and Players we would like to thank you for your continued support of Swansea Rugby Football Club and look forward to seeing you in the coming season.

 Ymlaen Abertawe.

 Phil Llewellyn - Chairman
