Swansea Rugby Football Club is sad to announce the passing on of former All White Alan Rutherford. Alan, a prop forward, first played for Swansea in the 1962-63 season playing in 10 matches including the Easter fixture with the Barbarians. At this time Alan played as a second row forward.
In 1963-64 he played in 15 of the club's fixtures and grabbed his second try to add to one in his first term with Swansea.
After playing for Llanelli, Alan returned to Swansea RFC in the 1968-69 season, playing predominantly as a prop though occasionally reverting to second row.
During the 1969-70 season he played for Swansea in the match at St Helens against the touring Springboks. His last season with the All Whites was in 1970-71.
The club was saddened to hear the news of his passing and our sympathies go to all his family at this difficult time.
