The Club is saddened to announce the passing away of Dr Howard Bowen, who was the Honorary Club Physician for 40 years. The Club was indebted to Dr Bowen for his unrelented support throughout those years for the well being of Former British Lions, Internationals and many Club players all of whom benefited by the Professional advice of Dr. Bowen.
Howard joined the Club in 1962 having moved to Swansea to join the Cwmfelin Medical Practice, he was invited to succeed Dr Spencer Davies Honorary Club Physician who was soon to retire.
Howard was part of a very special band of Club Members,who became known as the "House of Lords" others included, Mr. David Price, Mr Viv "Matty" Davies, Mr Brian Simpson, Mr Gordon Morris, Mr Ian Jones and a few others who also have now passed on Mr Len Blyth, Mr Gwyn Lewis and Mr Horace Phillips. These gentlemen were GREAT characters who help make Swansea Rugby Club "The Whites" World renowned.
Howard is survived by his wife Enid and their two Sons David and Simon and well be missed by all who were fortunate to know him.
His funeral will take place at St Hillarys Church, Killay at 11.15 Friday 2nd Dec, followed by a service at the Cremitorium at 12.30pm. Mourners can then attend Swansea RFC.
