A Rhodri Jones hat trick helped Llandovery to a 28-21 win over Swansea in an entertaining encounter at St Helen’s.
It was a perfect start for the All Whites as Tudor Hughes charged down a kick and the pack drove forward for Jon Vaughan to score inside the opening 30 seconds. James Davies converted.
The Drovers pack made great yards inside the Swansea twenty-two and earned a penalty, which Jack Maynard chipped to touch. Lewis Ellis-Jones rose to collect the lineout and a professional foul by Jon Fox saw the number eight yellow carded.
From the next set piece, Rhodri Jones powered over for a try under the posts, which Jack Maynard converted to level the scores.
Richard Brooks held onto possession for too long after the tackle, but James Davies hit the post with his penalty attempt. Drovers failed to clear though and the home side hit back with Rhodri Wells diving through a ruck to score under the posts. James Davies converted.
Two minutes later the scores were again tied when the Swansea defence wasn’t able to lay a glove on the pacey Scott Maynard, who race up to the line, before Rhodri Jones darted over for his second try. Jack Maynard converted.
