Three second half tries were enough to secure a first victory of the season for the All Whites, against fellow regional rivals Bridgend.

The home side started well and a great burst down the wing by Andrew Claypole set up an attack. He found flanker Will Jones in support, but scrum half Rhodri Wells lost the ball forward over the line.

A chip and chase by winger Ed Doe was well dealt with by Swansea fly half Jamie Davies. However, a poor box kick by Wells was taken by flanker Owain Lloyd, who charged over the twenty-two. Hooker Gareth Harvey and number eight Adam O’Driscoll made further yards, but the Whites managed to secure a turnover and full back Owen Howe put good distance on his clearance kick.

Harvey and winger Ryan Griffiths looked to have created an overlap out wide, but a superb tackle by Tom Williams saved a certain try.

The Ravens took the lead after 14 minutes with a Cai Evans penalty goal after an infringement at the scrum by the home pack.

Adam O’Driscoll spotted a gap in the Swansea defence and raced 30 metres upfield. He was brought down with a high tackle, but Cai Evans missed his effort at goal.

Howe kicked to the corner with a penalty after the visitors strayed offside at a kick. A huge maul by the Whites pack took play close to the line, but the promising move broke down.

Harvey was penalised for holding onto possession in the tackle, but Howe’s effort at goal sailed well wide of the posts.

The Ravens then mounted an attack when centre Jamie Murphy made a break and found scrum half Connor Tantum in support. Cai Evans chipped down the wing, but the ball beat the chasing Griffiths over the whitewash.

Full back Tyler Williams almost picked up a loose ball on the wing, but Howe cleared to touch with some great footballing skills.

Half-time:-   Swansea   0   Bridgend   3

Cai Evans doubled his side’s lead after the interval with a penalty goal after Tom Williams slipped when he tried to run out of defence and then held on after the tackle.

Number eight Morgan Morris then broke away from a scrum and used his strength to set up an attack. An inside pass to Claypole saw the winger power over the twenty-two, but he held onto possession on the ground.

Out of nothing, Claypole picked up a loose ball and raced clear to score from half way. Howe missed the conversion.

The Swansea pack drove their counterparts backwards at the rate of knots at a scrum, earning a penalty. This time Howe converted.

The visitors were awarded a penalty, but it was reversed after a stamp off the ball by Adam O’Driscoll. Howe missed his effort at goal.

James Davies made a break and found replacement hooker Ashley James in support. The hooker threw a pass to centre Rhys Williams, who powered through for a try under the posts. Substitute fly half Phil Jones converted.

Replacement centre Joe Jenkins came inches to scoring a third try when he sprinted towards the line, but was stopped by lock Kieran Martin, who was promptly sent to the sin-bin for a professional foul.

The Ravens were struggling to keep the home side at bay and gave away a number of penalties in quick succession. Swansea opted for a scrum and got the ball out wide for Jenkins to score. Phil Jones converted.

Next up for Swansea is a trip to Carmarthen, while Bridgend host Llanelli.
