Match Report

Swansea 47 Bedwas 33

Swansea took home the spoils in an entertaining win over Bedwas at a blustery St Helen's.

Prop Andrew Clatworthy grabbed both of the Whites' opening brace of tries, firstly following an excellent run by Nicky Thomas and then after the home side showed their dominance up front with a powerful maul.

Referee Rhys Thomas awarded Swansea a penalty try after a high tackle on Ben Davies and centre Lewis Chance got his side's bonus point try with a run from halfway after good work by Sam Lewis.

Scrum half Tom Edwards darted around the blindside of a ruck to score the visitors' first try but it was more misery for his side when Eli Walker picked up a Sam Davies chip through to score.

Bedwas came out firing after the interval and were awarded a penalty try when Sam Davies deliberately threw the ball over the dead ball line. Replacement Alun Wyn Davies grabbed try number six for Swansea but Simon Grainger replied almost immediately with a try for the visitors.

With the Whites' scrum beginning to struggle, Grainger took full advantage to crash over for a try and good work by Dan Watchurst set up a try for Ross Wardle to narrow the deficit to only 11 points. To their credit Swansea held their nerve and a late Thomas penalty sealed victory.
